There's no place like home

When I got home tonight, I wondered why the Empire State Building was red.

Stupid camera. It looks more orange than red.

And then, as if on cue, the talking heads on the news told me. Got any guesses?

If you said that it's the 70th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz, you'd be correct. (Although actually, my "research" shows me it was released in August 1939). But apparently the movie was re-released in some theaters to commemorate the anniversary, and there's a new high-def DVD of the movie coming out on the 29th. So I'm not exactly sure why they chose the 24th to light up the Empire State Building, but hey, happy anniversary Wizard of Oz!

I think I'm the only person I know who just does not get why that movie is so great. (I do love red shoes, though!)
